Where's Ernie?
by Tina Blue February 9, 2002
When I had my home daycare I used to startle and amuse my charges by doing pretty good vocal imitations of Sesame Street characters, Micky Mouse, and others of their favorite cartoon or puppet figures.
One day I was holding on my lap a 3 1/2-yr-old girl that we called Bethie. I said, in the voice of Ernie from Sesame Street, "Hello, ol' buddy Beth!"
Bethie gasped and exclaimed, "Tina! Where's Ernie?"
"Where do you think he is?" I asked.
Her eyes got really wide. She pointed to my throat and said, "In there?"
Who knows--maybe she thought I had swallowed him!
